Dancers gliding like a flock of birds, jumps, spins and somersaults in the air as high as 30 meters above the audience vertical dance troupe, The Flock Project, turns the world upside down and tells stories from a new point of view.

Our artistic team was formed in 2016 by members of the Simorág DanCircus. What makes vertical dance special is the illusion that the performance takes place on a stage turned 90 degrees. Using an industrial alpinist fixation technique, and horizontal movements on vertical walls, our choreographies are made up of aerial jumps, spins, runs, and somersaults, combining dance and circus.

The performances are built from various circus and dance techniques, live music, projection and literary texts. Our first performance was created in collaboration with the Ferenczi György and Rackajam band, which plays the unique genre of folk rap and erases genre boundaries, with music and literature. Our performances are always prepared to live music, in this we collaborate with the Ferenczi György and Rackajam band, and the jazz musician János Vázsonyi.

We like to create performances based on poetry and music, which in many cases are combined with actor-musician duos in our performances, but we also enjoy creating uniquely designed poetry montages.

The long-established company, recognized with numerous professional awards and touring internationally, has performed in rural locations and festivals in Hungary, and in recent years has also performed in Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, and the Czech Republic, among others.

The company also cooperates with the Színes Város Group, Hungary's first fire wall and public space coloring organization. Our permanent light painters are the Gabeetoo and Bala team, where artist Gábor Gregovszki creates graphics specifically for our performances.

What makes the vertical dance genre special is the illusion that the performance takes place on a stage rotated 90 degrees. We combine the special elements of aerial acrobatics at home and on the international stage. The performance does not require a stage; the production takes place on house walls, castle walls, up to 30 meters high in the air. Creativity, modernity, and technical innovations characterize our work.

Using an industrial alpinist fixation technique, and horizontal movements on vertical walls, our choreographies are made up of aerial jumps, spins, runs, and somersaults, combining dance and circus.

Individual and synchronized movements complement each other. Vertical dance works as an independent theatrical performance in itself, but we are also happy to perform as the opening or closing program of various events. This is how we participated in the international architecture forum, the Prague Quadrennial, or the 2019 European Maccabi events.

Thanks to the uniqueness of the genre, the production can be created on different surfaces, we have already held performances on columns, plane trees, inside factory buildings, castle walls, bastions, hotel glass walls, and mountainsides. We participated in a fashion show in Poland, but we were also a surprise show at a closed factory inauguration.

Since we were established, we have been making a new premiere every year, and the Mediawave Festival is our permanent partner in this!
