Eco Flight – Correns, France
Community Presence • Site-Specific Art • Organic Connection Location: France’s First Organic VillageAfter its Budapest performance, The Flock Project traveled to southern France to present Eco Flight in Correns, known as the first organic village in France. The company spent a week working in the unique environment of Fort Gibron — adjusting movement, spatial composition, and lighting to the character of the historic fortress. This site-specific creative process naturally amplified the ecological themes of the production.
Open Creative Process – Art Made Visible
Rehearsals and preparations took place in an open, public setting, allowing local residents to witness the evolution of the performance day by day. Many villagers watched the company from their terraces and windows — this spontaneous visibility became one of the strongest forms of community engagement.
By the time of the performance, Eco Flight had already become a lively topic of conversation, creating a deep sense of connection within the village.
Remarkable Interest in a Village of 900
The premiere on October 18 attracted an exceptional audience: not only residents of Correns (with fewer than 900 inhabitants), but also visitors from neighboring towns. The event energized the local cultural scene and reached people who rarely attend artistic performances. The show concluded with an extended and enthusiastic round of applause.
Community Engagement – Eco Art Workshop
Thanks to the open rehearsal process, many residents joined The Flock Project’s eco-art workshop. Participants had the opportunity to learn about sustainable artistic practices and delve deeper into the ecological message behind Eco Flight.
The Correns presentation thus became both a performance event and the beginning of a community-based dialogue on environmental awareness.
